Inside Elon Musk’s Prefab Tiny Guest House in Texas

Everyone around the Globe heard about Elon Musk and about his simple lifestyle, and of course everyone heard that he ditch his house and belongings and he is focusing on the business more than ever. Well, Business Insider wrote an article a few months ago and showed us around Elon’s tiny house he uses as a guest house at the Boca Chica Texas Space X Launch site and that he also uses one close to his other house they said.

The prototype was made by a small business in Las Vegas, called Boxabl, that are making affordable housing. The project name is “Casita” ( meaning “small house” in Spanish ) it only costs $50.000, has 375 square foot, with a spacious living area, bathroom and of course kitchen, high end finishes and materials used to complete the box design.

The tiny homes can be folded when ready for delivery, manufactured on a line factory and transported easily to the desired location on a truck or a pick up with a trailer. Almost all of the Casita’s finishes, such as kitchen, bathroom, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC are completed in the factory before it ships out. At delivery the home needs to be unfolded ( that takes a few hours ) and then attached to the foundation and utilities before it’s move-in ready.

As we said before, shipping containers create a new example, a trend and a way of living and of repurposing things. People like to use them in so many ways, from housing to storage, from businesses to underground shelters. Versatile and well built, thy look like they would last forever, and sometimes they are. Let’s keep a close attention to what they will become in the next few years, and who knows, maybe Elon will invest in Boxabl and the factory in Las Vegas, if he hasn’t done that yet, and take the business up to a whole new level.
